Come and join Ms Christy's French Immersion Club!

The focus of this 6 week program is to engage learners in fun, hands-on activities to develop French listening and speaking skills.

Details
Group: This program is suggested for Grades 2 - 6. Ms Christy is excited to teach children of all levels of ability and open to students outside this age range enrolling at parent's discretion understanding that this is a skill developing FI program.

Ms Christy holds a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts (French/Spanish). She has taught many grade levels locally and internationally but her favorite has always been French Immersion!

This French Immersion Club will be 6 weeks long and includes 12 hours of program time together.
Important
  • Please send your child prepare for class with appropriate outerwear as some activities may bring our group outdoors.
  • Have a packed lunch and water bottle sent with your child for each day.

The Gathered
The Gathered Presents Cooking for Beginners

Please join the lovely staff of The Gathered for an introductory class of cooking for beginners! Discover the joys of cooking and learning how to make some of your favorite dishes. We will learn some basic steps to cooking and baking and how to apply it to some fun recipe to serve to your family.

Using your five senses discover the many fun elements of cooking !
Details
  • Arrive 10 minutes early!
  • We will require hair pinned back if it is too long.
  • Send a Tupperware container for your child to bring home some of the things they will be making.
  • If your child has a favorite apron bring that along, if not it will be provided.
  • Please inform us of any allergies that pertain to your child.
  • Please pull up to the kitchen which is the white building on the south side of the drive way.
  • A waiver will be provided upon arrival
A %15 sibling discount will be applied at checkout for any registration after the 1st

Please note that Elaine has offered the Gathered room for parents to wait and relax during the program if desired. The coffee pot is always on.

Laser City
Join us at Laser City for an afternoon of STEM fun!

This afternoon will be packed full of engaging science experiments and unique experiences. Come for the science and stay for a few rounds of laser tag too! The Laser City staff will explore topics such as Light, Sound, Matter and Energy.
Details
Please keep in mind the duration of the program and your child's comfort level with the laser tag experience
  • Please pack a water bottle and snack for your child
  • Please send your child in comfortable clothing ready for lots of play and science experiments
  • No parental supervision is required however you are welcome to stay if you would like

Baseball Skills

Coyote Youth Baseball
Join the Coyote Youth Baseball crew this spring in building your Baseball skills! This program will take place at their 10,000 sq ft indoor turf facility with small player groups. Each program day will build on skills from the last, encouraging your young player to succeed in and enjoy the game. Focusing on a variety of fundamental skills such as throwing, hitting, fielding and pitching each week your player will go home with sharpened and newly learnt abilities.
Program details:
All players that join our camp will be learning all aspects of baseball. They will learn a dynamic stretching and warm up routine. We will be focusing on the fundamentals of baseball such as throwing, fielding, catching, hitting and base running. We want all players to learn and have fun playing this great game.
What to come prepare with:
Players will need a water bottle, gym shoes, a hat, and gym attire.  If your player has any of the following glove, bat, helmet, or batting gloves they can bring them as well. We will also have some equipment that players can borrow if they do not have one.
Suggested ages:
The recommended ages for this program is 8+ . The Coyote staff is excited to work with players of all abilities and the program will be adapted for your students skill levels.

This hands-on experience is perfect for homeschool students of all ages, offering a creative way to build confidence and independence in the kitchen. Let’s turn everyday ingredients into a culinary adventure your family will love!

To ensure your child gets the most out of their cooking class, please have the following ready before class starts:
  • Ingredient List: Provided in advance—please gather all ingredients beforehand.
  • Kitchen Equipment: A list of necessary tools will be included with the recipes. Make sure everything is accessible.
  • Prep Time: Allow time to set up the workspace and wash any produce before class begins.

Forest Field Trip

Jumpingpound
Join us in the mountain's for an adventure !

Explore the living cycle of the forest by studying plants, how they grow and the role of decomposition. Students will consider the forest as a natural resource and discover how people connect with local forests. Connect with the forest by examining the natural and human factors that shape the forest landscape. Students will identify our forest plants, and use real forestry tools to explore careers.

This educational field trip offers a unique experience with an exciting full day of interactive programming that exposes students to the multiple values of a working forest.
Details
The wonderful ambassadors facilitating our day in the mountain's will provide your students with tons of rich information, if you would like additional video links and resources to look at prior to the trip please reach out to me and I can provide you with some links suggested by the educators.

Location
The field trip will take place in Kananaskis, at the Jumpingpound location: ~ roughly 50 Km west of Calgary

It will be your responsibility to drive out in your own vehicles as there will be no bussing provided, carpooling with other families registered is a great idea!

There is a small parking area that is primarily used near the Jumpingpound shelter here, as well as some extra space in the public parking area here.

Please note, this is within the zone that requires a Kananaskis Conservation Pass.
Date and Time
The program runs on-site from 10:00am - 2:00pm on Friday June 6th.
Suggested Age
This program is recommended for Grades 1 - 6 however the content discussed may be aimed for the older students in this group. Younger students are very welcome to participate although it is highly suggested that a parent be present to help them out with the activities throughout the day. With that in mind, the educators are happy to accommodate a wide variety of ages with the help of each family leader present. Please plan to stay on site with your student(s) and enjoy a day in Kananaskis learning together!

Please bring a packed lunch and remember to leave the site as you arrived, clear of any garbage and belongings.
What I Should Bring With Me
  • Pencil, clipboard or something sturdy to write on
  • appropriate foot ware
  • a small backpack, easily carried around for the day
  • weather ready clothing, layers if chilly
  • extra socks and shoes in the vehicle incase of accidents
  • a hearty healthy lunch and plenty of water (no drinking water on site)
  • sunscreen, bug repellent and hat if desired
  • printed map to area, cell phone service is not always great in these areas
  • any required medication like inhalers or ana-kits

Boreal Forest Class

Discovery Days Homeschool Classes
Join us for a fun, hands-on, 6 week class about the impressive Boreal Forest of Alberta and the captivating creatures that call it their home. Throughout the program you will build a 3D map of Alberta and the ecosystems that make our province so diverse. You will be inspired by the beauty of the Northern Lights, creating your own chalk pastel scene that seeks to capture a little of the colour and movement of this amazing phenomenon. You will have fun making a felt mask of the quietest hunter in the forest (owls) and laugh at the prickly defences of the porcupine as you attempt to make a critter as spiky as the real thing! Discover the majestic cats that prowl and the unique traits that enable them to thrive in every season including the depths of winter. Enjoy creating water colour paintings the cutest little chipmunks and snowshoe hares. See how everything works together as you link plants and animals in an interactive food web. The Boreal Forest is a rich and diverse eco system just waiting to be explored. Come join us in learning all about this amazing place.

Track & Field

Do you like racing? Jumping? Throwing? Track & Field is for you!

Come join us at Genesis outdoor track for 4 weeks of fun! Students will be introduced to a variety of track and field events including standing & running long jump, triple jump, mini hurdles, throwing events and relays. Running technique, sprinting starts, and finishes will also be taught.

Throwing events such as shot put and javelin will be taught using lighter implements for younger students. Hurdles will be plastic and low to the ground, with higher options available as students progress. Classes are rain or shine.
